1st graders of St. A dive into clay for the first time this year. Wow! I was so impressed with the quality and patience they have had. They listened very carefully and the results look great! Students started by rolling out clay, creating the "O" shape and adding textures to the clay. The next class period, students learned about glaze and how the firing process works. Finally the third class period students created a self portrait to add to the middle of the artwork. They turned out simply wonderful! I was so bummed when school was cancelled Friday because everyone didn't get to take their artwork home. No need to worry, they are safe at school waiting for home!
