Smith's Class is Presented with a Drawing Challenge

Drawing Challenge:  Create your own theme park.

We discussed what it takes to run a theme park and all the things that people need when they visit.  The students filled the entire white board with ideas...hotels, concession stands, rides, games, entrance, fence, transportation, mascots, restrooms, walkways and more!  We also looked at Cedar Point and Michigan Adventure maps.  The themes that were created are outstanding!  Here are a few starters.

St. A Middle Schoolers Work on Georgia O'keeffe Giant Flower Drawings

We discussed Georgia O'keeffe this week in class and looked at her beautiful GIANT flowers.  Our middle school students will be challenged to work on a large work space and create their own flower close up.  The sketches thus far look great!

St. M Middle School Quote Self Portraits

The middle school has been working hard on their self portraits.  Here is a sneak peak.  I hope to have finished photos up soon!

St. A 1st Graders Finish Their Jungle Collage Tigers

I love how these tigers peak out from behind the brush.  You really worked hard 1st graders!  If you take a look in the office you will see that some are already on display!

Andy Warhol Pop Art Prints

Wow!  Mrs. Wydick's class and Mrs. Hendrick's class are rocking these Andy Warhol pop art prints.

2nd Grade Value Study Pumpkins

These beautiful pumpkins now embrace the halls of WWA!  They are the perfect touch now that the fall weather has started to settle in.

Playing with Language

Thank you to the wonderful student who made me this Mrs. Clearwaters poster.  I can't wait to put it by my desk.

3rd Grade Chihuly Glass Sculptures

WWA and St. A 3rd graders are creating and studying Dale Chihuly's glass sculptures this week.  We colored coffee filters with washable markers, sprayed them with water to make them "melt" into glass, and draped them over paint bottles to achieve the desired form.  My secret to help they stay in their form is hairspray!  Only spray after students are gone and by ventilation.  I love these!  Way to go 3rd grade!

Stoneburner and Smith's Classes are Complimenting Each Other....

....with complimentary colors!

Look at how cool these are!!  4th and 5th graders used measurements, oil pastels, blending and the complimentary colors to create these beautiful pieces.  Wow!  I wish you could have seen how hard they were working.

St. Augustine 2nd/3rd Grade Split Shines

Elmer's Glue Metallic Colored Pencil Study

In just one day our artists created these beautiful metallic Elmer's Glue bottles.  They are packed with creativity and color.  I love the details and the extreme effort that was put into these drawings.  Way to go Mrs. Wydick's class!

St. Augustine 1st Grade Update

Henri Rousseau Jungle Tigers

1st graders started adding the jungle this week to their tigers.  Tissue paper and a "secret solution"  to make them look like leaves!  One more week and they will be done!  Excellent work 1st grade!

St. Monica 1st Graders Create a Flower Still Life

Flower Still Life

Way to go 1st graders!  You worked so hard to create these flower still lives!  I was so impressed what many people hadn't use oil pastels before.
